The Softshell technical transfer stops the migration of colors in the marking: the hot application of transfers on polyester or polyamide fabrics may present a risk of "migration" of the inks of the fabric. Indeed, the inks of the fabric can be "reactivated" by the heat (during the application) and contaminate (change the color) the transfer. This phenomenon, migration or re-sublimation, does not appear immediately, but often after 48-72 hours (even 2 or 3 weeks ...).
It is possible to choose between white monocolor silk-screen transfer or digital MSO transfer.
The silk-screen transfer is a printing with silk screen ink (Pantone) on a paper or polyester medium. The transfer is then hot pressed with a professional machine.
The monocolor silk-screen transfer allows the printing of visual of one color only, on polyester.
ADVANTAGES OF THE SILK-SCREEN TRANSFER
This technique does not require a color edging and respects the logo designs (where possible, due to the thinness). It offers an excellent result and a small thickness.
LIMITS OF THE SILK-SCREEN TRANSFER
With silk-screen transfer, it is difficult to produce color gradients (except by halftoning): this technique is rather used for solid colors and vector pictures. Some thinness are also difficult to obtain because of the screen printing process: texts or lines below 2.8 Pt (1 mm) will not be readable.
Digital MSO transfer is a process combining the printing of visuals and/or photographs identical to paper printing, with screen printing. The print medium is polyester.
This process combination allows to produce four-color printing without any problem regarding the number of colors, color gradients, transparency effects or finesses.
The transfer is then hot pressed with a professional machine. The final result depends on the quality of the provided file.
ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL MSO TRANSFER
The digital MSO transfer allows an infinite amount of detail and colors as well as gradients. All images are realizable.
LIMITS OF DIGITALG MSO TRANSFER
Since the MSO transfer is a four-color printing transfer, the colors are not obtained using screen-printing inks, it is therefore impossible to obtain an exact Pantone color.
The technique requires a color edging for the makeready, so the silkscreen underlay covers all the visual and bites into the color edging of the same color as the fabric. The visual will not have a white outline, but a discreet color edging, corresponding to the fabric color.
CAUTION:
• For a digital MSO Softshell, it is impossible to produce a white color edging.
The digital MSO transfer will be thicker and slightly stiffer than a silk screen transfer.
